Intro to Stress Management: Essential Tools to Get Started

Stress can be a major roadblock in your journey toward personal growth. Whether it's due to work, relationships, or daily challenges, stress can affect your mood, health, and overall well-being. Many clients at Mogressive Coaching have shared that stress often stems from overlapping issues like feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities, struggling with time management, and lacking effective coping strategies. By incorporating mindfulness, deep breathing, and effective time management into your daily routine, you can enhance your emotional resilience and feel more in control. Here are three simple yet powerful techniques to help you master stress management.

1. Find Your Kind of Meditation

Meditation isn’t just about sitting quietly with your legs crossed, singing "kumbaya." It can be cooking, painting, writing, walking, working out, or even sleeping! Anything that makes you feel calm and happy can be meditation. Traditional meditation focuses on breathing, but praying, sitting quietly, or visualizing your goals are also forms of meditation. The real question is: What makes you feel calm and happy? Personally, making pizza is my meditation! It's about finding what brings you peace and a sense of inner euphoria.

2. Try Deep Breathing

Mark Divine, a retired Navy SEAL, talks about “box breathing” in his book “Unbeatable Mind.” This technique helps calm your body and mind. I’ve integrated this method into various aspects of my life, such as while mixing my pre-workout drink, visualizing my workout routine, driving to work, or before exams. It’s like a natural high you can access anytime. Try sprinkling some box breathing into your life; it’s a “high” that you can access 24/7.

3. Write Down Your Tasks

Did you know that writing down your daily tasks and goals makes you 42% more likely to achieve them? When I stopped guessing what to do daily, my stress levels decreased, and my productivity increased. Many people realize they have more going on than they thought once they write it down. Creating a vision board helps break down goals and visualize the finish line clearly. Start by writing your goals and get a vision board. Download a free digital vision board here and follow the setup guide. Clients often react with surprise at how much they have going on and appreciate seeing it all laid out clearly.
