5 Laws That Will Transform How You Think and Act (Stay Resilient, Take Initiative, Make Smarter Decisions, and Prioritize Progress Over Perfection.)

What if Life Came with a Rulebook?

We all face challenges that can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of the next step. What if there were guiding principles—laws—to help us navigate life’s curveballs and make better decisions? Enter the 5 life-changing laws that can transform how you approach work, school, personal growth, and everything in between.

Each of these laws offers a unique perspective and strategy for tackling life’s obstacles. Let’s explore Murphy’s Law, Kidlan’s Law, Gilbert’s Law, Waltzon’s Law, and Falklands Law, with practical insights on how to use them to your advantage.

What Are The 5 Laws?

1. Murphy’s Law: When Everything Goes Wrong

"Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong."

We’ve all had those days where it feels like the universe is working against us. From spilling your coffee to getting stuck in traffic-something I’m very familiar with. Murphy’s Law reminds us that setbacks are inevitable. Meaning, setbacks will always be part of our lives. But instead of letting it derail your day or your mindset, you can learn to prepare, pivot, and stay resilient. Once I changed my attitude, my behavior naturally changed as well. Which also means that if you convince the mind, the body will follow. This is part of understanding yourself and beginning stages of trusting yourself.

2. Kidlan’s Law: Clarity Is Half the Battle

"If you write the problem down clearly, you’re halfway to solving it."

When life felt overwhelming after the military or after failing college, Kidlan’s Law taught me the power of clarity. By breaking down problems and putting them on paper, you can simplify complex challenges and identify actionable steps.I had this idea that whatever I needed to know, I could just simply remember, and that was my biggest downfall back then. Once I wrote everything down on paper or on a vision board, clarity instantly kicked in! I told myself, “Woah I didn’t know I had so much going on in my life” I call this mind mapping, being able to bridge and connect long lost ideas. Now, everytime I’m confused or just not sure of the next step to take, I take a piece of paper out and write it down.

3. Gilbert’s Law: Take Charge When No One Tells You What to Do

"The biggest problem at work is that nobody tells you what to do."

Have you ever felt stuck because no one gave you clear directions? Gilbert’s Law is all about taking initiative and creating clarity when guidance is missing. It’s a reminder that waiting for instructions isn’t always the answer—sometimes, you have to lead yourself. This is more of an advanced law to apply to your life, because you have to be aware of when to use another law called the law of neutrality or step up and take the initiative. Sometime taking the initiative isn’t always the right answer. Kinda like another quote that says, “the best offense is a better defense”.

4. Waltzon’s Law: Progress Over Perfection

"A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow."

How often do we delay starting because we’re waiting for the “perfect” moment? This law totally resonates with me! After understanding this law, I realized I wasn't getting much done because everything had to have a perfect beginning and even a better ending. So it limited me on just starting a math problem for example. Just because I couldn't see or understand how the teacher got the final answer-it would prevent me from even starting the math problem. Waltzon’s Law reminds us that taking imperfect action now beats waiting for perfection. Progress builds momentum, and momentum leads to success.

5. Falklands Law: The Power of Patience

"When it is not necessary to make a decision, it is necessary not to make a decision."

In a world that glorifies quick decisions, Falklands Law teaches us the value of waiting. Sometimes, the best action is no action at all. By pausing, reflecting, and gathering information, you can make smarter, more intentional choices. This law was very useful while I was starting a new business, going to college full time, starting a foundation, studying for finals, attending daily zoom meetings, and balancing my down time. It taught me that sometimes I rushed things because I wanted fast outcomes, quick turn around times, and sometimes waiting and trusting the process was the best thing to do at that time. I didn’t have much patience before and i’m still working on it in all aspects of my life now because I can see how powerful patience can become and work in your favor more often than none.
