Don’t Be Afraid to Outgrow Everyone Around You (Those Around You Won’t Understand - They Might Even Try to Hold You Back.)

“Am I doing the right thing?”

Growth is a journey, and it’s not always comfortable. It took me 6 years to finally accept and realize this. There comes a point in everyone’s life when they realize that growth can create distance—distance between the person you are becoming and the people who once felt like home. The truth is, outgrowing the people around you isn’t just natural; it’s necessary.

But, let’s be clear: growth doesn’t mean you’re better than anyone else. Then that means you’re honoring your path, your honoring your potential, and honoring the purpose that’s calling you forward - And sometimes, those around you won’t understand that. They might even try to hold you back.

This can feel very isolating, lonely, questionable:

“I don’t want to hurt anyone's feelings..”

but it’s a crucial step in becoming the person you’re meant to be. The Person who you know you're supposed to be.

The Pain of Outgrowing

Whether you’re transitioning out of the military, starting college, or diving headfirst into a self-growth journey, the pain of outgrowing old relationships can feel overwhelming. You might find yourself second-guessing your decisions: Should I stay the same so I don’t lose them? The answer is no.

Staying stagnant, or side-stepping the rest of your life just to make others comfortable only traps you in a version of yourself that no longer serves you.

Remember, growth doesn’t erase the love and memories you’ve shared. It just shifts the dynamic. The people who truly care about you will either grow alongside you or cheer you on from where they are. And for those who can’t—it’s okay. It's ok to let them go. LET THEM GO..

The Power of Choosing Yourself

Choosing to grow is an act of courage. It’s a decision to prioritize your dreams, passions, values, and vision over the fear of losing connection. When you choose yourself, you give permission to others to do the same. You become a living example of what’s possible when you stop apologizing for evolving.

In Mogressive coaching, we call this stepping into your authentic power “Becoming The One”. It’s not about abandoning people; it’s about aligning with the ones who match your energy and values. When you take this step, you’ll be amazed at how the right people start appearing in your life—mentors, peers, and friends who challenge you to grow even further.
