Ever felt like your life's stuck on repeat? That's where I was, between the ages of 20-30 years old cruising on life's highway with no exits in sight. It felt like I was trapped in a never-ending loop of partying, drinking, and pleasing people. But one day, the question hit me like a ton of bricks, "wtf are we doing here!?" It was like I'd woken up from a ten-year pause, much like the characters in the movie "10 Years" where Channing Tatum and his crew start revealing their true selves as they meet up at their 10 year reunion and reminisce about their high school days. Was high school the highlight of your life? “I wanna go back to my high school weight” “back in high school was when….[fill in the blank].
This realization led me to a junction in life, where I had to decide to take the steering wheel of my life back or continue to let life lead me to conformity. It was time to “stop-drop-and rollll..'' like those dumb tik tok dances. I literally started my coaching business based on my life, Mogressive Coaching, became the canvas where I painted my journey of relearning, rewiring, and retraining my brain. It’s all about breaking free from the shackles of societal norms and rediscovering oneself.
And hey, guess what? Our brain is not some rigid lump of unchangeable blob but a dynamic powerhouse that's constantly morphing itself-adapting. This cool phenomenon is known as neuroplasticity. It's like our brain's way of carving out new scenic routes in a dense forest, making the passage of thoughts and memories smoother. Now, throw that in the same room with neurogenesis, which is our noggin popping out new brain cells even as adults. Think of it like your brain's not a dusty old attic or closet but more of a lively house party, always buzzing with fresh ideas and new vibes.
I often compare the brain's “elasticity” to a rubber band. Imagine pulling a rubber band; it stretches right? That's your brain on neuroplasticity. Now, envision slicing a juicy rib-eye steak into thin strips, each representing a specific memory or skill. If the slice (or rubber band) is too rigid, it snaps easily leading to issues like short-term memory loss. But with some TLC (Tender Loving Care), like the exercises I talk about on my blogs, you can make these 'rubber bands' elastic AF, enhancing your memory, focus, and overall brain health.

It’s easy to just do as we’re told, but tossing out those autopilot instructions and asking yourself some real-deal questions like, “why have I been on this follow-the-leader game my whole life?” “Who was I, who am I now, and who do I wanna be?” can be game-changing.
